[Theme Music] Hello there! Welcome back to another episode. This is Sam, your host, and today we’re venturing into the fascinating realm of artificial intelligence and robotics and their impact on our future. You know, the more I delve into this topic, the more I’m reminded of a quote by Arthur C. Clarke: "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.” And isn't it true? As we transition into an era where AI and robotics are becoming increasingly prevalent in our daily lives - from voice assistants like Siri or Alexa to autonomous cars – these technologies often feel magical. But let’s go back a few decades. Do you remember when the first computers were introduced? They were gigantic machines that filled entire rooms. Now, fast forward to today; we have computers that fit in our pockets. We've come such a long way. Yet, as we advance further into this brave new world of AI and robotics, it's important to consider how they will shape our future. There’s no doubt that these technological advancements hold immense potential for humanity. However, just like any other tool, their use can lead to both positive and negative outcomes. I want to draw your attention here to a powerful speech given by renowned roboticist Rodney Brooks at TED Talks. He said: “Robots will be commonplace in daily life within 10 years.” That was back in 2013 folks! It's been almost a decade since then and we can clearly see his prediction coming true each passing day. Now before we wrap things up here's your random fact of the day! Did you know that one of the first known robots was created by Leonardo Da Vinci around 1495? He designed an armored knight known as Leonardo's robot which could sit up, wave its arms and move its head! In conclusion, I urge all of you listeners out there not just to marvel at these advancements but also critically think about the ethical implications of AI and robotics. It’s our collective responsibility to ensure that these technologies are used for the betterment of humanity and not its downfall. I hope today's discussion has sparked your interest in this fascinating field. If you enjoyed this podcast, share it with your friends and family. Let’s keep the conversation going. And remember, as Alan Kay once said, "The best way to predict the future is to invent it." So let's all strive to be part of shaping a future where technology serves us, not the other way around. Until next time, stay curious, keep learning, and don't stop dreaming about what tomorrow might bring! [End Theme Music]
