[Theme music fades in] Hello there, welcome back to another episode with me, your host Sam. Today we're heading outside and exploring the wild wonders of nature. But before we dive in, I have a question for you: when was the last time you truly connected with the outdoors? The writer and naturalist John Muir once wrote, "In every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks." Now that's something to ponder upon. We often look at nature as this vast entity that’s out there while we are stuck indoors. But what if I told you that it's not just about visiting a national park or hiking up a mountain? What if connecting with nature is as simple as being present and appreciating the world around us? Let me tell you a story about President Theodore Roosevelt. It's well known he was an avid conservationist. He often retreated into the wilderness to recharge his spirit and rejuvenate his mind. After losing both his wife and mother on the same day, he escaped into the Badlands of Dakota Territory for two years. His time spent admiring and respecting nature led him to establish 230 million acres of public land during his presidency. Like Roosevelt, many great minds throughout history have used nature to heal, reflect and find inspiration. The power lies in mindfulness – acknowledging our surroundings without judgment or distraction. Now let's bring it home - how can you apply this in your life? Start small; make it a point to step outside your door each day, feel the wind on your face or listen to the birds chirping. Plant some flowers or herbs; getting your hands dirty can be surprisingly therapeutic! Make an effort to disconnect from technology for a bit each day and immerse yourself in nature’s spectacle. And here’s your random fact for today: Did you know that being outdoors boosts your immune system? A study conducted by scientists from Japan found that people who spent time in forests had an increase in white blood cells, which help fight viruses and diseases. Now, as we wrap up, I want to leave you with a little homework. This week, try to spend at least 20 minutes each day outside. And while you're there? Just be present. Listen to the sounds around you, feel the sun on your skin, watch the leaves rustling in the wind. Remember John Muir's words: "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Seek connection, seek peace, seek inspiration – nature is waiting for you. If this episode resonated with you or made you think differently about how we connect with our natural world, please do share it with your friends and family. The more people we can inspire to reconnect with nature, the better off we’ll all be! Until next time folks! Take care of yourselves and take care of our beautiful planet. [Theme music fades out]
