Today, we're diving into a topic that has vexed many a working professional - how to conduct productive and meaningful meetings. [Music fades out] Meetings are like vegetables - we all know they're good for us in theory but aren't always our favorite thing on the plate. But just as vegetables can be cooked in so many tasty ways, meetings can be more colorful than you think. Let’s start with a quote from Peter Drucker, often dubbed as the founder of modern management. He once said "Efficiency is doing things right; effectiveness is doing the right things." So, let's make our meetings both efficient and effective. One way to do this is by taking a leaf out of history. Back in 1945, Winston Churchill was leading Britain through World War II. In addition to fighting a war on multiple fronts, he had another challenge - staying awake during long-winded military briefings. To combat this issue, he instituted what came to be known as 'Churchill's Brevity Rule'. Under this rule, every speaker had to deliver their points clearly and concisely in two minutes or less. Now imagine if every meeting you attended followed Churchill's Brevity Rule? Not only would it save time, but it could also encourage everyone present to focus on the most important points. So here's an actionable tip - next time you're conducting or participating in a meeting: Keep it concise. Write down your thoughts before the meeting and use them as talking points during discussions. [Music swells] And now for today's random fact – did you know that according to Verizon Conferencing studies and various researches conducted over time, Tuesday between 10:00 AM-11:00 AM is considered the best time for business meetings? Now that's some food for thought for your next meeting invite.
