Hello, hello! This is Sam and you're tuning into yet another episode of 'The Creative Space.' We've got a really intriguing topic lined up today. We're talking about tapping into your inner artist and releasing that creative beast within you.
Now, when we think of the word 'artist', we often picture a painter, or maybe a sculptor. But creativity is so much more than just visual arts. It's the way we approach problems, it's how we communicate with others, and it's our unique perspective on life.
There's this wonderful quote by Albert Einstein that says "Creativity is intelligence having fun." I absolutely love this because it encapsulates the essence of what creativity truly is - using our minds in new and exciting ways to create something fresh and original.
But let me take you back in time for a moment. There was an interesting study conducted by NASA in 1968 to test creativity. They found out that 98% of five-year-olds scored at the genius level for divergent thinking...fast forward ten years later only 30% of those same children scored at the same level as they did when they were five. By the time these kids had become adults, only about 2% remained at the genius level.
So, what happened here? Well, society happened. We are conditioned to believe that there's a right way to do things; there are rules to follow, boxes to tick off. But if we want to unleash our inner artist, we might just need to unlearn some of these so-called rules.
Remember Vincent Van Gogh? He once said "I dream my painting and I paint my dream." Now isn't that powerful? It’s a reminder that artistry comes from within us; not from external validations or set norms but from letting our thoughts run wild and free.
Now for an interesting fact - Did you know Salvador Dali, one of the most famous surrealist artists, used to induce hallucinations to boost his creativity? He’d sit in a chair and hold a spoon above a plate while he started to doze off. As soon as he fell asleep, the spoon would drop onto the plate and wake him up. He would then paint whatever he had seen in his semi-dreaming state.
Isn't that fascinating? But please, don't start inducing hallucinations! Rather, let's relearn how to dream like we did when we were five-year-olds. Let your mind wander without boundaries, push past what you think is possible, break out of your comfort zone.
So here's your takeaway for today: Start with something small. Sketch something during your lunch break. Write a poem before you go to bed tonight. Or even rearrange your room in a completely new layout. The point is - start creating! And remember that there are no mistakes in art; just unique creations.
Well folks, that wraps up today's episode on 'Unleashing Your Inner Artist'. If this resonated with you or if you know someone who could benefit from this message, please share it around.
And hey! I'd love to hear about all the wonderful things you're going to create after listening to this episode. So get out there and let your creative juices flow!
