Hello, hello everyone! Welcome back to our delightful rendezvous. I'm your host, Sam, and today we're going to plunge into the always captivating world of fashion. As Coco Chanel once said, "Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street; fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening". Today's discussion will revolve around one intriguing aspect of fashion: style and trends. A fascinating topic that affects us all whether we like it or not. Let's kick things off by delving into a little history. Did you know that trends have been shaping our wardrobes for centuries? Take the Victorian era for example; corsets were all the rage among women as they epitomized elegance and femininity. Or consider the roaring 20s when flapper dresses shook up society's norms and symbolized women's liberation. Jumping forward to today, our style is dictated by an ever-changing kaleidoscope of trends influenced by everything from popular culture to global events. What intrigues me most is how cyclical these trends can be - like high-waisted jeans making a comeback or chokers finding their way back into our accessory boxes! But let me share a quote that got me thinking recently. It comes from Lauren Hutton who said "Fashion is what you're offered four times a year by designers, and style is what you choose". This really hit home for me because it speaks volumes about personal choice amidst prevailing trends. You see my dear listeners; we often get swept up in these waves of trends without realizing that true style isn't about blindly following them. Instead, it's about taking those influences and adapting them to fit our individual aesthetic. To illustrate this point further let’s delve into a narrative featuring legendary designer Ralph Lauren whose personal sense of style transformed American fashion. He was known for his love of classic, timeless pieces - think jeans, polo shirts, and blazers. Lauren didn’t just follow trends; instead, he made them based on his personal style. Isn't that empowering? We too can be creators of our own trends based on what makes us feel good and confident! As we wrap up today's episode, here’s a random fun fact: Did you know the color of the year is decided by Pantone? It's a company that has been influencing product development and purchasing decisions in multiple industries for over 20 years! Before we part ways, I'd like to leave you with a thought. Remember fashion trends are fleeting but your style is eternal. So embrace it, celebrate it and don't be afraid to create your own trends! If today's podcast spoke to you or sparked some thoughts in your mind, I encourage you to share this with your friends and family. Let's start a conversation around our unique styles and not just the latest fashion trend! Until next time folks, keep shining in your own unique way!
